Letting Go

For many months I've been considering how best to make my relatively small contribution to the world of blogging.

I've been using Typepad for more than four years. I like it because it's easy to use. I don't have to worry about the format, only the content. Though my enthusiasm for blogging has waned in recent months, I would still like to have a place to post my ideas whenever something strikes me but, the annual subscription date for this typepad account is soon to arrive. I have decided not to ante-up. I'm going to let this blog lapse.

Thankfully, I own the domain "porchpondering.com" and so when I'm ready I'll be pointing it to a new blog somewhere else. I'm not really worried about importing all my spectacular ideas into a new location. I'm actually looking forward to the opportunity to start fresh again.

On another note, I did finish the Freedom Run in Ladera Ranch yesterday, thanks to Greg's excellent pacing. I was pleased to finish under an hour. I think it's a respectable time for swimmer-turned-runner. Maybe I'll hang in there with the running thing, if only to try to keep up with my kids. (click here to see my Eric Liddell impression, you know, "Chariots of Fire" stuff...it goes fast.)

Thank you for reading this blog. Have a great summer!

My Playlist

I've been spending more time running the streets of Ladera Ranch in preparation for the 10k tomorrow. The one advantage that running has over swimming is that I can listen to my iPod when I run. Near the end of my playlist is a song by the Robbie Seay Band, whom I highly recommend. The words weave a wonderful theme for the summer months. It's titled "Breathing Air Again." Here are words:

Breathing Air Again (Robbie Seay Band)

Take the time to start anew
Maybe it's in front of you
Take the time to walk down your street
And heaven knows who you might meet
Take the time to be okay
And laugh a bit along the way
You could take me for a ride
We could just drive all day
And we could breathe again

Step outside our front door
And gaze upon the stars
And know we're not alone
So run into the fields
Scream louder than you can
It's good to be alive
And breathing air again

Take the time to stop and stare
Heaven's beauty everywhere
Take the time to think about
Someone else besides yourself

Take the time to be okay
And laugh a bit along the way
You could take me for a ride
We could just drive all day
